Steve Jobs in aspettativa per motivi di salute

Steve Jobs ha annunciato, per la seconda volta in due anni, di aver chiesto al Consiglio d’amministrazione di Apple un congedo per malattia in modo da potersi concentrare sui suoi problemi di salute. Il co-fondatore della compagnia in una email ai dipendenti ha assicurato che rimarrà CEO e parteciperà alle più importanti decisioni strategiche. Le sue funzioni verranno assunte, come nella precedente occasione (da gennaio a giugno 2009), dal direttore operativo Tim Cook.

“Amo moltissimo Apple e spero di poter essere di ritorno il più presto possibile. Nel frattempo la mia famiglia ed io apprezzeremmo che fosse rispettata la nostra privacy”, ha affermato Jobs. La sua precedente assenza era dovuta ad un trapianto di fegato.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs today sent the following email to all Apple employees:

Team,

At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.

I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.
