se dovesse continuare a fartelo forse è un problema di preferenze,usa l'applescript "delete preferences"(contenuto nella dmg d'installazione) in tal caso.Citazione:

Se non sai che tipo di Mac hai e di che anno è, per andare sul sicuro scaricala sotto "Universal Binary" che comprende entrambe.
In teoria dovrebbe scaricare più velocemente da un server in Francia o Germania e non in USA.
Quelli sono i mirror che ospitano i file di VLC in vari paesi, non le lingue delle versioni.
Il web browser plug-in serve se apri quei tipi di files gestiti da VLC anche da dentro il browser Internet.
