ritorno sull'argomento: c'è qualcosa, probabilmente nell'intestazione comune a tutte le mails di uno stesso mittente che non piace e fa chiudere inaspettatamente l'applicazione..
per mia sfortuna il problema si manifesta con un tipo di mail che è importante per il mio lavoro e vorrei comunque cercare di risolverlo!

grazie per l'intervento, in quella discussione se non ho capito male, si parla di conflitti con l'applicazione ical relativamente a "todo", ma non la utilizzo. Comunque grazie di nuovo

Spero di non dire una castroneria ma per ToDo credo si debbano intendere le Attività. Ma se tu non usi iCal è inutile discuterne. Volevo anche chiederti per caso nel Mac che ti dà problemi hai installato "stationery" (modelli) extra?

no, non ho mai scaricato "stationery". In Ical segno solo gli appuntamenti che sincronizzo poi con l'Iphone ma non ho mai utilizzato la funzione "Attività"..

Prima rispondendo ad una domanda di Peterpan hai precisato che il tuo è un account POP. Io nelle settimane passate ho avuto problemi enormi con il mio primo account di posta con Alice che era POP. E tuttora non mi riesce di impostare alcuni account Gmail come POP. Oltre a chiusure improvvise dell'applicazione non riuscivo ad inviare la posta. Ho superato (in parte) il problema disinstallando tutte le stationery (da qui la mia domanda) e reimpostando ex novo tutti i miei account come IMAP.
Quasi certamente il tuo problema avrà cause diverse ma volevo chiederti di provare a creare un secondo utente e a reimpostare da lì almeno l'account più problematico.

funziona! sul nuovo account l'applicazione mail non va in crash e apre le mails imputate. Cosa posso fare, dunque? ritornare all'account che uso e reimpostare manualmente le caselle di posta?

Mah, in questo modo sappiamo che il problema è circoscritto alla tua cartella utente ma non sarà facile riuscire a capire cosa non va e come rimediare. Puoi provare a reimpostare tutto ex novo come hai detto, magari come IMAP invece che POP ma sinceramente non me la sento di darti troppe speranze.
