FileSalvage doesn’t, and won’t ever, allow the user to write data to the same volume as the data that is being recovered from. This flies in the face of the whole notion of recovery, when the recovering files may well overwrite data that is in line to be recovered. To operate most efficiently, we suggest the user recover files to an external device or secondary drive in the computer.
