Usare utility disco per la copia di un hd

Salve.....spero di aver scritto nella sezione giusta , ho fatto la copia del hard disk con il s.o. del mac usando utility disco seguendo la procedura:

la copia e' avvenuta su un hdd esterno anzi meglio precisare avendo un macpro l'ho effettuata in un hd che ho montato nella slot bay 2 da 1 tb della WD.

mi sono meravigliato del tempo trascorso ,l'ha effettuata in 4 ore......e il .dmg creato era di soli 72gb, e normale ?

2- Va bene se uso utility disco ?, oppure devo utilizzare carbon copy cloner ?

3-qual'e' la differenza tra i due sopra citati e fare un backup con time machine

1) quanto spazio occupato hai nell'hard disk di cui hai creato l'immagine?
2) vanno bene entrambi, verifica sul sito dello sviluppatore quali sono le opzioni che CCC ti mette a disposizione e se ti interessano: http://www.bombich.com/

Grazie dell' attenzione....comunque , di spazio ne ho a volonta' per i link di cui mi hai postato li conosco , volevo solo consigli da persone piu' esperte di me.......in ogni caso:

1- l'immagine che ho creato con utility per ripristinarla un domani, come devo fare?

2-perche' quando la monto sulla scrivania, non l'ha vedo in preferenze - disco di avvio?

3-usando CCC creando un disco clone, se uso un hdd contenente altro materiale....immagini, video, ecc... sara' eliminato, cioe' devo usare un hdd solo per la copia clone?

Non ti ho chiesto quanto spazio libero hai sull'hard disk del tuo Mac, ma quanto ne hai occupato.

1) fai una ricerca nel forum con chiavi "ripristin* AND immagine AND disco" oppure "boot AND immagine AND disco". C'è tutto.

2) che senso ha montare l'immagine sulla scrivania?

What if I already have a lot of data on the hard drive that I want to use for backup?

If your backup hard drive already has data on it that does not exist on the source volume, there are a few different approaches to protecting that data:

Add a new partition to the hard drive
If the hard drive is partitioned with the GPT partition scheme, you can use Disk Utility to resize existing volumes (those volumes must be formatted with a filesystem that supports resizing, such as HFS+) and to add new partitions. These actions can be done non-destructively, as long as the hard drive is partitioned with the GPT partition scheme.

Leverage CCC's "Protect root-level items on the target" feature
If your hard drive is partitioned and formatted correctly and does not already have a version of Mac OS X installed upon it, you can use that hard drive for back up without losing the existing contents. This subject is covered in the "Options to the Incremental backup of selected items method" section of the documentation.

Back up to a disk image
If you simply cannot reformat or repartition your backup hard drive, you can use CCC to back up your data to a disk image. This subject is covered in the " Backing up to a disk image" section of the documentation.

Back up to a folder
If you're backing up user data (e.g. not the OS), you can use CCC to back up your data to a subfolder on the target volume. This subject is covered in the "Clone to a subfolder on the target volume" section of the documentation.

PLEASE NOTE: We strongly recommend that you find the means to dedicate a volume to the task of backing up your irreplaceable data. If you have data on your backup volume that exists nowhere else, it is not backed up! Whenever you target a volume for use with Carbon Copy Cloner, there is a risk that some files will be removed for one legitimate reason or another. CCC offers options and warnings to protect your data from loss, but nothing can protect your data from a misuse of CCC or a misunderstanding of the functionality that it provides.

ho effettuato la ricerca , ho trovato la soluzione per utility e penso di usare , proprio questo....creandomi l'immagine ...in ogni caso posto il link puo' essere di aiuto a tutti.....

quando devo fare un clone del disco utilizzo Utility Disco.. tempo fa feci delle prove tra Carbon Copy Cloner, Super Duper e Utility Disco e quest'ultimo era l'unico che mi copiava tutto, proprio tutto..

La scomodita' e' che devi avviare da un terzo disco o dal DVD di installazione..

Non creo un'immagine disco, ma faccio una copia esatta bootable in un HD esterno, in modo che se quello interno ha problemi sono subito operativo riavviando il clone.
