What's new in this version:
Visual Refresh - Netscape Navigator 9's theme has been updated to save screen-space and leave more room for the websites you visit.
URL Correction - Navigator 9 will automatically correct common typos in URLs. For example, if you accidentally type googlecom, Navigator will fix it be to google.com. The browser will watch for nearly 30 different types of common mistakes and correct them for you (asking you to confirm, if you choose to enable confirmation).
News Menu and Sidebar - The latest news is built right into the browser, under the News menu. Provided by Netscape.com, you can customize the menu to only contain the news sections you want to monitor. You can also open the News sidebar to always keep an eye on what's happening.
Link Pad - The Link Pad is a new sidebar feature that allows you to save links/URLs that you want to visit later without cluttering your bookmarks. Just drag a link over the Link Pad status bar icon and drop it to save it in the Link Pad. By default, clicking on an item in the Link Pad will open it in the browser and remove it from the list, saving you the step of deleting it.
News Tracker - The Netscape Tracker sidebar lets you monitor breaking news as it happens, via Netscape.com.
In-browser voting - Share your opinions with the world! The icons in the Navigator address bar let you share interesting stories you find and vote on stories shared by others.
Extension Compatibility - Navigator 9 shares an architecture with the latest Mozilla technologies; as such, Navigator 9 will let you install extensions that are compatible with Firefox ® 2.
Sidebar Mini Browser - You've always been able to have bookmarks open in the sidebar, but we've improved this functionality and extended it to all links, not just bookmarks. Io lo uso ormai da diverso tempo, è il mio secondo browser ufficiale da usare per tutti i siti in cui Safari non va. Lo considero decisamente migliore di Firefox (più veloce, più bello ecc...) anche se senza tutti i plugin della volpe di fuoco. Consigliatissimo.

Uscito il 9.0.0.4 con le correzioni di FX 2.0.0.10.Tutte le estensioni di FX sono compatibili con Netscape...Ma non capisco questi inciuci...ma è sempre mozilla che produce netscape? E se si come mai fa Netscape più veloce di firefox (FX) ?
Non è Mozilla che lo sviluppa. Firefox è open source, quindi chiunque ne può fare un derivato. Comunque Netscape funziona molto bene.

Comunque Netscape funziona molto bene.si,ma anche seamonkey-mozilla avevano/hanno (?) ripreso netscape, l'attuale seamonkey 1.1.7 ne è una prova, per questo credevo che netscape fosse stato assorbito da seamonkey (che fra l'altro non è compatibile con le adds-on di firefox...) insomma, un gran casino. Va beh, l'importante è che almeno, questo netscape, come hai detto tu, funziona molto bene... :)
Mi spiace annunciare che Netscape verrà abbandonato dal primo febbraio del 2008, dopo quella data non verrà più aggiornato e non ne usciranno più nuove versioni, correzioni o altro.

Si chiude un'epoca storica.
Ricorderò sempre la mitica versione 4.8 e le mie mille navigazioni pionieristiche dell'epoca.

E mi sa che la versione 9.0.0.5 di Netscape sarà l'ultima, ormai il primo febbraio è vicino e Mozilla non ha rilasciato nuove versioni di Firefox.

In questa selva di update, browers e plug-ins, vorrei capire a che serve avere l'ultima versione di FX e/o netscape se si installano tutti i plug-ins della sicurezza e li si aggiorna regolarmente (parlo di no script, adblock e altri), quali altri lati "deboli" possono risultare a rischio? I miei quesiti hanno lo scopo di capire se è possibile utilizzare netscape anche senza l'ulteriore supporto...
Mi dispiace leggere questa notizia, ero affezionata al "navigatore" ... lo utilizzo da una vita. Finchè regge non lo abbandono
